Meet the Author
Dr. Mark Reber brings a rare blend of clinical experience, practice-building insight, advanced training, and a real-world perspective on general dentistry to every newsletter he writes.
About Dr. Mark Reber
As a dentist who spent three decades caring for patients, building a successful private practice, investing deeply in continuing education, and teaching the next generation of clinicians, Dr. Reber understands both the opportunities and the daily challenges facing general dentists.
Born and raised in Monterey on California’s Central Coast, Dr. Reber earned an undergraduate degree in psychology, with initial plans to earn a PhD and become a psychologist. However, during college, those plans changed as he developed a growing interest in dentistry, followed in his father’s footsteps, and ultimately chose a profession that would allow him to combine science, patient care, communication, and problem-solving in a uniquely personal way.
Dr. Reber earned his DDS from the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he also completed a Master of Science in Oral Biology. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and requested a three-year assignment in Europe, which he loved, serving as a dental officer before returning to the Monterey area to enter private practice. Over the next 30 years, he continued to expand his clinical capabilities, practice systems, patient services, and understanding of what helps a dental practice thrive.

PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE
Advanced Clinical Training
Throughout his career, Dr. Reber pursued extensive advanced training across multiple areas of dentistry, including esthetics, temporomandibular disorders and occlusion, orthodontics (including both Invisalign and traditional braces), obstructive sleep apnea treatment, and other clinical disciplines.
This broad exposure gives him a practical, GP-centered perspective on the topics that engage general dentists, support better patient care, and create natural opportunities for collaboration with dental specialists.
Commitment to Continuing Education
225 Hours of Continuing Education
His commitment to learning has far exceeded the minimum required for licensure. While California dentists must complete 50 hours of continuing education to renew their licenses, Dr. Reber completed 225 hours of CE credit in one especially exciting year in the early 2000s—more than four times the requirement. In many other years, he completed more than 100 hours of continuing education, underscoring a long-standing dedication to clinical growth and professional excellence.
Awards & Recognition
In 2007, Dr. Reber and his partner received two national honors and were featured on the cover of Dental Economics magazine for “The Best Designed Dental Office in America” and “The Best Incorporation of New Technology in a Dental Office.” These honors reflected not only a commitment to excellent patient care but also the ability to build a modern, efficient, and memorable dental practice.
Educator & Mentor
Dr. Reber is also an experienced educator. He has lectured at numerous dental education events on topics ranging from obstructive sleep apnea to endodontics. He currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine, where he serves as a preceptor for fourth-year dental students.
The Referral Bridge
Today, Dr. Reber writes newsletters on a wide range of general dental topics, including clinical care, practice administration, patient communication, team development, and practice growth.
Because the content is written from the perspective of an experienced general dentist, it resonates with GP readers as relevant, practical, and peer-to-peer. Nevertheless, the newsletter is crafted so that he remains anonymous and instead appears to come from a dental specialist (YOU) who readily admits they have a “GP friend” who helps with occasional newsletter content.
The consistent GP content and credibility make The Referral Bridge so valuable for specialists who want to remain top of mind with the general dentists in their community.
Let's Build Stronger Relationships with Local General Dentists
Dr. Reber looks forward to discussing how these newsletters can help you, as a dental specialist, build stronger relationships with local GPs and grow your specialty practice. Whether your goal is to expand your current practice, open a second location, bring in an associate, strengthen referral flow, or increase practice value ahead of a future transition, a no-obligation conversation is a simple first step toward making your ideal practice a reality.
